Bjarki

Bjarki Rúnar Sigurðarson is an Icelandic musician, sound artist and label founder whose work sits in a strange zone between club music, experimental composition, field recording and sound art. Over the past decade, his music has moved freely between the dance-floor and more exploratory forms of composition, using rhythm, environmental recordings, voices and electronic manipulation as raw material. His work increasingly extends beyond recorded music into live performance, installation and cross-disciplinary projects. He founded the labels bbbbbb and Differance and runs Buxur, an independent electronic music and arts collective in Reykjavík. The Body Works continues this direction, bringing sound into conversation with sculpture, physical material and the body. He first gained international recognition through a series of releases on трип, including the breakout track I Wanna Go Bang. Rather than repeat its success, Bjarki continued moving between styles and approaches, with albums such as Happy Earthday and A Guide to Hellthier Lifestyle expanding his work into more melodic, atmospheric, conceptual and satirical territory. Alongside his own music, Bjarki founded the labels bbbbbb and Differance, platforms for exploratory electronic music and projects where sound, artwork and physical format are closely connected. His practice increasingly extends beyond conventional club formats into performance, field recording, sound installation and cross-disciplinary collaborations, while maintaining the dancefloor as an important part of his musical language.
